New Information on my Health

I am in St. Josephs Hospital in Bellingham, Washington. This time they are listening to me. I had a VQ Scan today, then an ENT, then a pulmonoligist, then another ENT, then Pulmonologist and then the second ENT again.

Here is what I have learned so far. My vocal chords are not working correctly, they are in fact reversed. I forget what he calls it, the opposite of a Paradoxical Vocal Chords or something like that. Basically they are opening when they should be closing and closing when they should be opening.

He says he thinks there may be an obstruction under the vocal chords or on the bottom of them. Tomorrow I am getting a CT Scan of my throat. If it is inconclusive, they will put me under and do a bronchoscopy. He said there may not be anything they can do about it, but if there is an obstruction in or under the vocal chords they can do surgery to repair it, otherwise this is something else I have to live with and will just get worse over time.

Yeah! It may not be the answers I want to hear, but I’m getting answers and they are listening to me.

Meantime they have changed my meds around, different extended release insulin and different rapid release insulin, other different meds too. More about that coming. I’m back on 60mg of Prednisone daily again.

Sugar is going up and down, they’re trying to stabilize it but with all the Prednisone now it’s giving some problems. Even if they figure out the problem with my vocal chords and if they can fix or at least partially fix it, some of it can’t be fixed he said and it too will continue to get worse. But it will make the lung problems easier to deal with I think.

More to come…
